Nooka watches
|Who says telling the time should be an easy task? Pleasing to the eye, not so much on the brain, Nooka watches are arguably more concerned about aesthetics than it is about function. Created by artist and designer, Matthew Waldman, its bar graph-like function lets wearers see, rather intuitively and visually, that time has passed by. We love it, but good luck trying to work out exactly how much time has gone by.

Watch tells the time according to the colour of the sky
I probably own enough watches already, but if I didn’t, I’d have to get a hold of this devastatingly cool watch by Japanese designer Ryohei Yoshiyuki which literally displays different colours of the sky every few seconds to reveal a close approximation of the time. By doing so, it transports us back to a time, metaphorically speaking at least, when people referred to the heavens to determine how far along in the day they had come. Genius. Read more

Umeda’s masterclass hip hop influenced choreography is awe-inspiring, and each move he makes is enhanced by the array of perspectives and illusions the lighting work creates.
Cloudscapes at the Venice Biennale
The premise behind this architectural installation, featured in this year’s Venice Biennale, is that clouds are nature’s very own framing tool. This poetic tribute to clouds captures the stuff that dreams are made from, and thanks to the engineering team, Transsolar and Japanese-based Tetsuo Kondo architects, people can feel the ethereal texture of walking amongst clouds without having to kiss the sky. Lush was one of the best bands to come out of the indie-tastic early ’90s. They set the standard for shoegazey, ethereal pop from the British Isles, and they were about to break big with their 1996 album Lovelife before drummer Chris Acland hanged himself in his parents’ home. The band is a bit of a forgotten gem at this point. Let’s cross our fingers for a reunion.
