30 story hotel in China built in just 15 days

The T30 can not only pride itself in being a five-star hotel, but also the hotel that took 15 days to be constructed from ground up. While its lines are plain and conventional, a 9.0 magnitude resistant building that employs the use of state of the art air filtration technology and sustainable building features in 15 days? Mind=blown.

Abandoned fake Disneyland in China

A decade ago, work began on a Disneyland rip-off amusement park near the Great Wall of China outside Beijing. As per many development projects in China, disputes over property prices between government officials and local farmers caused the construction of Wonderland to grind to a halt, and it’s been sitting half-built and falling into ruin ever since. Reuters just posted some haunting photos of the park. Read more

One Year Walk/Beard Grow time lapse video

Lately, I’ve found myself connected to stories of men and nature: I read and saw 127 Hours, Into the Wild, and more recently The Longest Way, a video made by German student Christoph Rehage. His original plan was to walk from Beijing to Germany, but he only ended up doing 4646km in China. His video was part of Destination X, an exhibition about people’s motivation to move around at the Museum of World Culture.

Hells Angels photos from 1965

In early 1965, LIFE photographer Bill Ray spent several weeks with The Hells Angels. Ray recalls his days and nights with Buzzard, Hambone, Big D, and other Angels (and their ‘old ladies’) at a time when the roar of Harleys and the sight of long-haired bikers was still new, alien, and for the average, law-abiding citizen, simply terrifying. This is a selection of Ray’s images originally published by LIFE.com, and more images can be seen on their website. [via Feature Shoot] Read more

Hey, we could all do with a little help sometimes. This Love Energy Potion is packed with enough wickedness to get you feeling ready and randy for whatever lies ahead. Wait, did we say lie? Whoops! Now go and find your love.

Sometimes we need an ad to remind us of what’s important. Normal is beautiful. Keep our oceans alive. Vote. Be more fearless. The Whitehouse Post is an international post-production company whose projects are damn fine. In fact, they are the scary mix of wit and aesthetics that makes any message convincing. Long live Coca-Cola.

If you drink white Russians and have a dedicated relationship with your house robe and bowling, I have just the house for you. The Dudes house from the film The Big Lebowski is up for sale. Read more

FFFFOUND! is a fun website that allows you to bookmark your favorite images from the Internet and share them with fellow users, sort of like a del.icio.us specifically for pictures. The site is still in private beta and not currently supported on Mac, but as its collection of images expands, it’s likely to become much more widely available.

Already with a Spectrum show under their belt, The Archerbolds are an up and coming Australian band well worth checking out. I saw the Sydney-based lads play recently at the Mars Hill Café and it was evident that they should be permanently rocking out on a real stage; not in front of coffee sippers. Their floating lyrics, smart guitar riffs and meaty bass lines are infused by The Strokes, Mars Volta, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin — ultimately producing a freshly spun modern-vintage sound. Lead vocalist and guitarist Geoffrey ‘Gep’ Rectin says The Archerbolds plan to create a solid sound for next year: ‘Over summer, we’re recording an EP and working on a set sound, defining more of an image’. If their track, Rest Your Soul, is anything to go by, then it should be pretty dandy.

Anchored in Paris and Helsinki, the design and illustration duo of Anna Ahonen and Katariina Lamberg is conquering mediums across fashion, advertising and print. Small team. Big ideas. We like.

The return of the Brionvega rr226

Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.

In 2008, graphic designer Becky Edgington and illustrator Sarah Beetson created two limited-edition packs of playing cards featuring images from Beetson’s exhibition, 50 Bucks: Bring On The Sluts. The images were selected from almost 500 small artworks created on moleskine paper, inspired by vintage pornography and a trip to Japan. Read more
