For her piece, Connected, conceptual artist Kasey McMahon has created a ‘life-size self portrait made of steel, CAT5 and other data cables’. Of her work, she says: ‘I’ve been exploring how interconnected we’re becoming as technology is more entwined in our lives — both the positive and negative effects’.
It’s a really good thing I don’t have any money, otherwise I’d spend it all on ridiculous things like historically accurate Viking swords by MAD Dwarf Workshop.
I ran a series of 80s nights in New York last year — showing cult 80s movies and playing classic cuts from that era of kitsch and spice — purely so I could spin After The Fire’s Der Kommissar over and over. Yessir, this was the future of music in 1983. Pity no one was listening.
Berlin seems to be a great place for street art in general, as we’ve reported before. This fractal graffiti however takes spraying artistry to a whole new level. Read more
Illustrator and artist John Malloy has been working on a graphic novel called Channel One and, without wanting to sound too much like Paris Hilton, it’s looking pretty damn hot. Update! There’s some nice, doom-tinged psych rock coming out of Holtzclaw, Virginia in the form of Pontiak, a lumbering, feverish, blues-heavy trio that sounds like a hungover morning after a drunken party around a bonfire in the woods.

Pioneering Australian designer Kara Smith can definitely give Urban Originals a run for their money. She creates the most innovative handbags for those that truly want to stand out. Detailed with lovely pockets and vintage buttons, Smith’s retro inspired designs literally transform original vintage fabrics into ‘one-off’ clutches, handbags, totes and accessories. I’m in love with her clutches! But yes, if you missed her over the week end at the Blue Mountain’s Leura Village Fair, she’s stocked in Glebe and Sydney’s Todae store, as well as at a variety of online outlets.

Has anyone here in Oz actually purchased one of the Style Your Garage photo tarps and fitted it to their garage door? Would love to know how successful they are when fitted.
