Sometimes an artist describes him or herself so aptly that it leaves others with nothing much more to say. In the case of Toronto-based illustrator Karlo Ghokasian, he has this to say about himself: ‘Most people go to university to become fancy doctors and sexy lawyers. You know, real important type careers. I on the other hand spent four years drawing vaginas. So, why have I chosen to be an illustrator? Well, I’m not in it for the money. I do it to impress women’.

Existential game where you have to figure out the plot
Rory Viner, an experimental composer from Toronto, and Japanese developer Kanoguti have created a free art game that will leave you trying to decide what this existential game actually means as the developer wanted the player to figure out the story for themselves. The game is called Lost & Found and has five mini-games set as five stages, all different in concept. You only need to use the arrow keys and the ‘z’ button. As a non-coffee drinker, I’m not going to rant about the coffee. I’ve heard, though, that the coffee is damn good. But I am going to talk about something else: food. Oh. My. God. Sydney’s Single Origin cafe have this awesome meatloaf sandwich and a raft of sourdoughs and prosciutto and roast lamb and chevre and chunky steak pies and yogurt with compote and four-cheese toasties and baked beans and … oh! Don’t forget Karlie’s special homemade lemonade! Karlie is always in the house so you know that it doesn’t come from a can and arrives at your table with that sour tang that reminds you of the annual Royal Easter Show. I almost forgot — metal is really about being drunk, pissed, offensive, and satanic. I have Bestial Mockery to thank for this. Their no-frills black thrash is barebones and snarling without being too dead-pan serious. These guys from Sweden are clearly having a blast worshiping the Dark One in the tradition of old-school bands like Venom, early Bathory, and Sodom. Nothing too original here, but it’s fun as hell.
