The Asteroids Galaxy Tour tour the US
by Copenhagen group, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, will be crossing the Atlantic this March for their first US tour of the year, blasting out their unique fusion of happy soul and kaleidoscopic pop. The tour will kick off at Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie, followed by stops in DC, NYC, San Diego, LA, San Francisco, and band SXSW. We have their song, The Sun Ain’t Shining No More [listen below], available for free download in our Music Download section.

I’m simultaneously left intrigued and blissed-out whenever I listen to the melodic hooks and bitter sweet vocals created by The Lighthouse and The Whaler. We checked in with Sydney-band Cassette Kids, who have been creating quite a buzz of late, and asked them about the highlights of their extensive touring over the past six months: ‘We literally just stepped off a plane from LA. We played at SXSW in Austin over the last week and it has probably been the most awesome experience to date. It’s amazing being able to play shows and go and see shows non-stop over five days’. Jon Ragel takes the stage as Boy Eats Drum Machine, with a saxophone, turntable, microphone, sampler and green tom drum. He’ll be touring all over the West of America on his way to SXSW in March with his deliciously proggy power trio labelmates, Finn Riggins.

Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

This café, cookie shop, ice cream place in Cobble Hill Brooklyn is all about flavor, aroma and family. Their cookies and ice cream are absolutely to-die-for, and the place is so well-designed, painted in vintage colors with old family pictures printed on the walls, that you’ll want to indulge yourself for more than just a few minutes. Try their Whoopies and Lucia cookies. They’re my favourite.
One of my favourite curated art blogs is Booooooom! The site is based in my backyard of Vancouver and features a wide variety of different visual artforms, whether its paintings, photography, design work, and sometimes even videos. I find that I’m always inspired when I visit this site. I think Jeff, the site’s creator and curator, and I have really similar tastes.
I live the upbeat, feel good tempo of the new single — A Hundred Hearts — from Philly group, The Swimmers. Off their latest album, People Are Soft, this song is a strangely fitting anthem for the blustery day outside.

Luxury goods have been getting a bad rap lately, and for good reason. Now I don’t know how you roll, but we don’t know many people who enjoy covering themselves head-to-toe in someone else’s initials. Yet for some reason designers think that diamante logos and monogrammed tapestries are the best mediums to communicate their brand. So it’s just as well LA based eyewear label Barton Perreira doesn’t play by the rules. Starting out less than a year ago, you won’t find their designs getting over-excited by insignia. Instead, these guys hand make their frames in Japan to rely on precision, fit and design. And that’s the way it should be.
