Here’s a clip of Mother Maybelle and The Sisters in glorious technicolor, singing about love. I adore the rich reds and pinks. Why can’t film look like this now? A perfect performance, supported by astounding musicianship made to look as easy as pie.
With 175 million video streams, OK Go is the most-downloaded band ever. The group created an international phenomenon in 2005 with its A Million Ways video, which featured the four members dancing in a backyard, and followed it with the decade’s most-viewed music video, Here It Goes Again. Working with friend and video director Tim Nackashi, OK Go has cooked up a color-drenched video for lead single WTF? using props purchased at the 99¢ Only Store and the band’s trademark single-shot approach.

I don’t know about you, but I struggle with misplacing my little SanDisk USB stick. Think classic highlighter pink hair with a blunt cut, flamboyant makeup and Minaj’s signature Barbie necklace. All proceed of the doll’s auction will benefit Project Angel Food, an organisation that works to provide food for people affected by HIV and AIDS.

Dana McClure’s monoprint Line Series has left me hypnotized. She describes her series as containing ‘five films of various horizontal line weights and textures to explore the random application of color, transparency, frequency and order’. What she ends up with are 28 prints that look like someone took a box of markers and began drawing in this rhythmic pattern of back and forth. I’d like them all please. Read more
I can’t make it to the Renaissance Festival this year, but this little flash game has been helping me let off some steam with some ‘olde’-fashioned fun. The object of the game is to destroy castles by aiming a catapult. You can even build your own castle!

No one disputes that the Bush Administration is no friend to civil liberties, but this little spot on the ACLU website smacks of paranoia. At least it’s entertaining, and some people might actually welcome the ultra-convenient vision of the future this piece of propaganda offers.
I almost forgot — metal is really about being drunk, pissed, offensive, and satanic. I have Bestial Mockery to thank for this. Their no-frills black thrash is barebones and snarling without being too dead-pan serious. These guys from Sweden are clearly having a blast worshiping the Dark One in the tradition of old-school bands like Venom, early Bathory, and Sodom. Nothing too original here, but it’s fun as hell.
Paulina Bojór mixes a timeless earthiness with sculptor. She grew up in the Polish Peoples Republic and there she began by embellishing old clothes, experimenting with bright colours and the avant-garde. She’s now based in London and continues to build her label BOYOR, inspired by graphic patterns and much more. Read more
