Texas-based photographer Ansen Seale uses slit-scan photography, a process by which a panel with a slit is placed between the camera and the subject, to create his beautifully warped and abstracted images. No computers are involved.

In this video, Mick Burson paints a wall in Denton, Texas, that was inspired by the slums in Brazil. With no sketch, just a level, and a big paint budget, he was able to knock it out in a big three day weekend and make it to work on time Sunday night.
Ignacio Torres is a photographer I met in my hometown of Denton, Texas. It wasn’t until he moved to New York City, though, that we became friends. I had the honor of working a bit with him this past summer in New York, and through this realized just how unique and phenomenal he really is. He has gained an abundant amount of recognition this past year for his 3D moving GIF photos. And rightfully so. They’re incredible.
Redneck Hippie: a documentary about gun fanatic Jeff Pierce
English film-maker Philip Bloom really nails it here, with this short documentary on Texas old time BMX legend and gun fanatic, Jeff Pierce. He’s part redneck, part hippie and part nutcase! I hate guns, but really enjoy nerding out on the camera work here. Shot with a Red Epic and Phantom Flex, the slow-mo on this film is absolutely tremendous. If you are wondering where all the empty bullet shells go, Pierce recycles them into bicycle valve caps.

The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek will debut his first solo art exhibition, Noise Colored Party, at the Mahan Gallery, in Columbus on March 6. The two-month exhibition will feature his artwork from the 1980s onwards and includes drawings with pen, colored pencils and markers, digital photo collages and mixed media paintings.

Babycakes is a fantastic vegan bakery and you don’t have to be a crazy vegan to agree. If you’re in New York, you should definitely pay this place a visit. The creations are fluffy, creamy and crusty in all the right places, and the place is CUTE.
I am really into Hong Kong action flicks from the 1980s and 90s. When I first moved to New York, there were a handful of curious friends who were also interested in watching movies such as City on Fire by Ringo Lam, which Reservoir Dogs was based on. How did they find videos like thus? At the legendary Kim’s Video in New York City. These days, City on Fire can be find online, and Kim’s is history. But all the videos that entertained the film geeks of this city for more than twenty years have found a new home in, wait for it, Salemi, Sicily. Yes, the southern island of Italy. Kim has recently relocated there, as this sad but heartwarming story about him in yesterday’s New York Times reveals.
Casio Keyboard Brooklyn trio Au Revoir Simone are about to release a collection of remixes and covers their musical friends have recorded of songs found on their second album, The Bird Of Music. Titled Reverse Migration, the record features re-workings by Best Fwends, Teenagers, Darkel, and more. We caught up with them recently. Why and when did you decide to release a remix album? Annie: ‘Our friends were making so many wonderful versions of our songs we wanted to share them with the world’. How did you select the artists? Annie: ‘Mostly they were friends who told us they wanted to do remixes! Very fun and easy’. Reverse Migration is out November 11 through the band’s own label, Our Secret Record Company. Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.
Inspired by the unique digital clock apps created by the designer, Sean Zoega, the i-toc watch is a colorful physical manifestation of digital ideas featuring bespoke two-disc Japan quartz movement. The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
