The Changes archive video release

Art collective, The Changes, have released an old video from their archives. The video, which was partly shot in Nigo’s Bapestudio some seven years ago, has resurfaced, showcasing the work of Australian label PAM, BBC/Ice Cream artist Skatething and Tonite creator, Fergadelic. PAM’s description of the ongoing collaboration is: ‘The Changes is the idea that when a few musicians come together, they form a ‘band’, which makes for a different, and sometimes stronger, dynamic for making music. We thought the same could be true of four artists coming together to do a similar thing’.

The brand’s new collection has uncovered some more ancient drawings that sit nicely on a printed tee. Designer Carlo Salanitri has built somewhat of a cult following amongst the t-shirt community, with a large online following. Read more

Pambook

Art, design, and fashion company Perks and Mini have just launched a new website for their publishing company, PAMBOOK, which came about five years ago when PAM founders, Misha Hollenbach and Shauna T, wanted to work with some of their favourite artists and photographers via print media. Some of the people to be involved thus far include Peter Sutherland, Sk8thing, Mark Borthwick, Ed Templeton, Fergus Purcell and Barry McGee. Each book has a unique story to it and is printed in limited numbers worldwide.

Bob Hund’s Fantastiskt’s only has 30 plays in it

Swedish rock band Bob Hund have released their latest single Fantastiskt (Fantastic) on a once-off print vinyl record that can only get played up to thirty times. The band then enlisted Martin Kann Design to design a suitable casing. So taking it literally he put it in a record player and etched lyrics to the song on the case. The record and the player were then listed on eBay and sold for a staggering US$3,650 to become the most expensive record ever in Sweden. Read more

Project Squadt’s latest skull-masked collectible figure is already sold out, but it’s worth taking a look at their site to be ready when they unveil the next one. I’m not much of a toy-freak, but these are still pretty nifty.

These twin sixty-story towers to be built in Malaysia feature a combination of ‘continuous, flowing, double-curved perforated surface with a flickering, crystalline, transparent single-curved surface that is triangulated on an enormous scale’. The design by New York-based architectural firm, Asymptote, includes a 400,000 square foot retail section and the Penang Performing Arts centre.

Wow! This song — More Childish Than In A Long Time — from Swedish teenage twins Taxi Taxi! just burst into my headphones like the first welcome glare of a mid-morning sunshine, stinging my ears wickedly with its coarse, repetitive beauty. The forlorn, introspective lyrics and melody tease and shimmer, sending a fleeting and not-so-subtle tap on the shoulder to hit repeat, repeat, and soak it all up again.

Car from made ice

Forget battery powered vehicles. Cars made from ice are the future of transportation: no pollution, no honking horns, no painful rap music blasting out of souped up stereos. And if they melt, they melt. You just swim the rest of the way down the slipstream.
