Chrissy Angliker
At the beginning of last year, I was doing a lot of relatively large-scale, drippy paintings. I did one based on a photograph I took of a slaughtered donkey in China that looks remarkably like one of Chrissy Angliker’s paintings. I had never heard of Angliker before, and it’s funny how two perfect strangers working in complete isolation can come produce such similar work. I’d like to believe that our work has nuances that differentiate us, but that’s for the viewers to decide. My piece is at the bottom of this post.

One Year Walk/Beard Grow time lapse video
Lately, I’ve found myself connected to stories of men and nature: I read and saw 127 Hours, Into the Wild, and more recently The Longest Way, a video made by German student Christoph Rehage. His original plan was to walk from Beijing to Germany, but he only ended up doing 4646km in China. His video was part of Destination X, an exhibition about people’s motivation to move around at the Museum of World Culture.

Oh boy, this is fun. Omaha’s Tilly and the Wall are kitsch-cool-camp-vauderville meets pop-folk-flamenco, with a tap dancer for a drummer and some serious, serious charisma for a calling card.
Babycakes is a fantastic vegan bakery and you don’t have to be a crazy vegan to agree. If you’re in New York, you should definitely pay this place a visit. The creations are fluffy, creamy and crusty in all the right places, and the place is CUTE.
