Sydney’s Bourke Street Bakery

Nestled inside the foodie enclave of trendy Surry Hills is the not-so-secret, but nonetheless extraordinary, local gem, Bourke Street Bakery. While Bourke Street Bakery’s chilled-out community vibe may give the appearance of non-chalantness, rest assured the owners — bread maker Paul Allen and pastry chef extraordinaire David McGuinness — are committed to sourcing quality, mostly organic, ingredients that they and their team diligently work into the beautiful treats that have earned them so many fans.

And if you can’t make it to Surry Hills — or even if you can — Allen and McGuinness luckily published a cookbook last year filled with simple recipes for their delicious and addictive creations, workable for even the most novice baker. [photo via Monocle]
