Andrew Sutherland

It baffles my mind how Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Sutherland can glue a stack of newspapers together and then cut them to look just like wood. His materials are simple, but his methods are transcendent, creating cascades of color and pattern as if the mundane materials of our throw-away culture actually contain within them the secrets of the universe.

Funny note left on a pole in Brooklyn

It’s been suggested that the lure that ultimately roped John Lennon into Yoko Ono’s spell was the word ‘Yes’ written in tiny writing on the roof of her gallery exhibit. ‘Yes!’ It’s such a positive word, so packed with meaning, as this notice on a pole in an arty block in Brooklyn attests.

I’m currently living in a windowless room in a warehouse space that doesn’t have any sound insulation from the rest of the apartment. I can hear EVERYTHING. I also don’t have a bed. I need one of these I-gloobox things.

The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project involved fourteen countries around the world filling crates with the best of their local nightlife and exchanging their country’s crate with another. We were there all the way, following Australia’s involvement. And the final stage, with Brazil and Australia swapping crates, was a beauty! As this video attests.

I’m definitely one of those people who can’t help but believe the world will suffer humanity-altering calamities within our lifetimes. Robert Graves e Didier Modoc-Jones created these postcards depicting what London may look like by the end of this century. Read more

A special UV ink printing method makes the “raspberry” stain visible on those cute childrens’ faces if they get directed to the sunlight.
