I love the clean, crisp work of Brooklyn illustrator Jessica Hische. Everything she does seems to possess a delicious, polished perfection. From her beautiful hand drawn type — a specialty — to her simple illustrated imagery, everything just feels so immaculately pulled together.
If supervillains don’t actually exist, then who the hell is buying these $44,750 ergonomic work stations complete with LED-backlit 24-inch touchscreen displays and built-in air-filtration systems?
Films involving characters faced with an impossible choice never make easy viewing, an example being the Nick Cave Australian gem, The Proposition. A nightclub manager, played with understated power by Joaquin Phoenix, is the victim here, and you actually feel truly uncomfortable as his predicament unfolds. Set in the 1980s, We Own The Night shows a real nostalgia for that period — particularly in the costumes. Read more
Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, or ‘Le Corbusier’ is considered by many to be the most influential architect of the twentieth century. His designs are responsible for urban structures around the world, from the grid-city of Chandigarh in India to London’s Barbican Centre, which is currently hosting an exhibition of his work. But to peg him as an architect overlooks an awe-inspiring body of work that also takes in art, literature and even a new system of measurement.
