Petros Chrisostomou

Petros Chrisostomou lives and works in London. Of his work, he writes, ‘My work is inspired by my perception of reality through mediated modes of communication. It is also much to do with ones reading of scale and comments on class and taste. I make large free standing sculptures that physically exist in the real world as well as fabricated miniature constructs — or still lives — that I photograph to assume an alternate reality’.

Tiny Art Director: A Toddler and Her Vision

For three years now, Bill Zeman has been drawing dinosaurs eating girls and ‘poo-poo airplanes’, all based on the whims and demands of his daughter, Rosie. She has been giving him briefs since she was two-and-a-half years old, and she’s a tough and demanding critic. Apart from the extremely funny blog, The Tiny Art Director, there is now an equally impressive book to show for their collaboration. The charming Tiny Art Director: A Toddler and Her Vision is available through Chronicle Books.

In the wake of America’s historic presidential election, nearly two years of divisive campaigning, and eight years of a controversial administration, the nation is in desperate need of healing. Beloved Internet personality Ze Frank started From 58 to 42 with Love where contributors use their webcams to post messages reaching out to the side of the country that didn’t vote for their guy. It’s saccharine at times, and there are one or two borderline nasty posts from people that don’t seem completely onboard with the project’s objective. But overall, it’s pretty effective and moving. I’ll admit I needed a couple tissues while reading it.

Argentinean artist Benito Laren’s illustrations roll through the mind like a restless childhood memory. They remind me of building blocks — solid, inviting and always full of potential.
