So MGMT are set to bring back their flutes, horns and psychedelic falsetto melodies on their forthcoming album, Congratulations. But this teaser track seems to cram every imaginable genre into the space of less than five minutes, resulting in an interesting sound, to say the least. I was first drawn to MGMT by the awesome Ausgang album cover for Congratulations, and they did not disappoint. They are like a secret spaceship hidden in your garage waiting to jet you away to world smoothed over with imagination and magic.

Forget MGMT, well, for the next five minutes anyway. Yeasayer are the hottest band out of Brooklyn, and they have a new video to prove it. Their single, Ambling Alp, sounds like Nik Kershaw locked in a wind tunnel.

Philly indie rock group Dr Dog recently compiled a crackling Secret Playlist for us which included props for songs by Cass McCombs, Thunderclap Newman, and the new time rag star, A.A Bundy, about whose track, Vice Rag, keyboardist Zach Miller wrote: ‘Good enough to be a classic old timey melody, except with more contemporary lyrical vices added. Black Eyed Dog is the project of Fabio Parrinello, a singer-songwriter from Varese, in northern Italy. His second album, Rhaianuledada (Songs To Sissy), brims with a brooding intensity, referencing the best British folk ballads of the past.
