Mini Opera Space in Munich

Designed by Vienna-based architecture firm Coop Himmelblau, this small-scale, 300-seat performance space has been submitted on behalf of the Munich Opera Festival, to be held in 2010. As ArtInfo notes:’The approximately 6,000-square-foot pavilion is anchored by a sloping, trapezoidal component, but characterized by an outcropping of pyramidal structures that have been “generated parametrically through the overlay of sound frequencies from Jimi Hendrix’s song Purple Haze and Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni. The shapes are meant to reflect and reduce sound’. opera house vienna 2 Mini Opera Space in Munich

Time cover shows mum breastfeeding her 3 year old son

Is this taking the whole concept of shocking cover images too far? This Time Magazine image shows 26 year old mum, Jamie Lynne Grume, breastfeeding her 3 year old son with the headline: ‘Are you mom enough?’. The story tackles the complex issue of child attachment, in the most blunt of ways. Anything for free publicity, I guess. And yes, we feel into the trap as well. Well, you know what they say about a sucker …

Crazed text messages from panicked scorned girl

Ok, so this is a good reminder why one night stands don’t always pay off, especially when one half of the stand reads too much into the previous evening’s, erm, activities. Out of Australia comes this bizarre, one-sided text correspondence from a girl directed at the guy who bedded her, then discreetly sent her on her way. It’s painful to read, especially as the texts were all unleashed over a period of, wait for it, a day. Check out the full stream of messages at Buzzfeed.

Our friends at Retronaut published these devastatingly beautiful portrait shots of the late, great Marilyn Monroe, which were taken by Edward Clarke in 1950, when she was around 24 years old. The photos are courtesy of the wonderful Life.com archive. Read more

Jordan Bernier’s vaguely architectural, densely-patterened shapes remind me of the pinball number count segment of Sesame Street for some reason. Read more

Was poking around at Dad’s Big Plan and found this rather awesome looking concept car called the Maininki, which was designed by Finnish designer Antti Eskeli. It has an adjustable chassis length so it can morph from a luxury sedan into a compact hatchback.

I have known Hayden for almost twenty years. He has always released quality music and that is why he can wait four years between releases and his fans are still there. His latest album — In Field & Town — went straight into heavy rotation in our home and I think will extend his fan base further than even he might like.

Created by Aussie label Eleventh Commandment on 100 percent premium combed cotton, the design on this tee is a hand-sketch by Sydney artist Joshua Oldfield of Kate Moss enjoying some coke. As she does!
