Local Natives’ Wide Eyes
by I am addicted to Local Natives’ finished studio version of Wide Eyes, the opening track of their debut album, Gorilla Manor, which dropped earlier this month. The melodic guitar patterns, discerning lyrics, heavy percussion and simplistically pretty vocal harmonies are so soothing. We Come Back and Sun Hands are also worth a listen, along with their Talking Heads’ Warning Sign cover that continues to float unknowingly around cyberspace.

Max’s Kansas City: Retrospective
Max’s Kansas City was the place to be in the late 60s and 70s. There were several incarnations of the famed rock and roll supper club. Max I was full of influential artists, writers, and poets; while at Max’s II, you could check out the Cramps, Klaus Nomi, Suicide, Talking Heads, and hang out with Bowie and Devo. Miles Fisher’s This Must Be the Place Talking Heads cover
I really love American Psycho and David Byrne, so this video by actor-singer Miles Fisher made me grin. His version of the classic Talking Heads song is sorta cheesy, but the video is stunningly perfect. Fisher has Christian Bale’s facial expressions down pat.

All proceed of the doll’s auction will benefit Project Angel Food, an organisation that works to provide food for people affected by HIV and AIDS.
