Pupplenklinik make dolls of famous people

The latest innovation in the world of the puppet toys are the unsettling dolls of celebrities that are manufactured by the German company Puppenklinik. The most outstanding are the Dalai Lama, the Pope Benedictus, Obama, Angela Merkel and Lady Di. The website offers different articles, where the proud creator shows his works, and a complete shop where special attention is given to the buyers of Barack Obama, which is — understandably — a hot item.

And, get this, it’s also now a ‘sport‘ controlled by an international association with tournaments played in many countries. And then there’s the World Championship, which takes place annually in Toronto. Now, quick choose your weapon. We take Scissors. Cardboard women of the night to fight rent hikes

If you’re not a property owner and you fight against unfair rises in rent month after month, the solution is knocking at your door: fill the neighborhood with prostitutes. You can do it easily. Just make cardboard prostitutes and leave them standing on the corner of every street. This way, the price of the rents of your area will go down and your neighborhood will be decorated with beautiful ladies posing on every corner. This idea was orginally created in Tel Aviv by creative agency Veecee. Read more

Brooklyn-group School of Seven Bells have just released my new favourite album of 2008 — Alpinisms —a slow-building, crackling collection of songs which sneak into your subconscious and spin endlessly like an old, beat up 45. Read more

If anyone ever asks you to define the word “schadenfreude,” show him or her these pictures of a poor skier hanging from a ski lift with his junk exposed to the alpine chill. If the person viewing the pictures laughs, he or she now understands the particularly useful German term.

The Boston Globe has posted some pretty phenomenal pictures taken from the space shuttle Discovery during its recent mission. It’s almost impossible to imagine that one day views like these could become mundane. Read more

Oh boy, this is fun. Omaha’s Tilly and the Wall are kitsch-cool-camp-vauderville meets pop-folk-flamenco, with a tap dancer for a drummer and some serious, serious charisma for a calling card.

Jeans are a science, a science based on the deep knowledge of denim, washes and patterns, according to Dr. Denim, who have certainly twisted and turned every single atom of all their jeans into perfection. Each pair exudes a progressive design, made of superior quality at fair prices. My high waists have become the most desirable item in my wardrobe due to the denim’s strength which magically sculpts to your body yet leaves you embracing the comfort of wearing tracky-dacks. Seriously, there is nothing more important than owning a good-fitting pair of jeans. Dr. Denim delivers unisex designs that appeal to everyone.

Car from made ice

Forget battery powered vehicles. Cars made from ice are the future of transportation: no pollution, no honking horns, no painful rap music blasting out of souped up stereos. And if they melt, they melt. You just swim the rest of the way down the slipstream.
