|Korean artist Yoo Young-Wun makes fantastic sculptures of pop personalities and mythical figures out of scrap paper, old text books, flyers, and magazines, exaggerating and distorting their proportions and features in perhaps a comment on the way media relays information and turns real people into caricatures of themselves.

New Zealand Book Council is Going West
Here’s an absolutely stunning promo for the New Zealand Book Council made by Andersen M Studio that’s an animation of paper cut-outs from books. It makes me want to get books, not necessarily to read.
Illustrator Scott Templin has drawn 26 ‘dream houses,’ each designed from the letters of the alphabet. Each one is available as a print for $80, and the entire series is available for $2000.
Dutch artist Karen Sargsyan makes some really great and expressive paper sculptures that aren’t as fussy and intricate as the work of other people working with the same medium. They have an innocent giddiness about them, and look almost like costumes on live actors. Read more

I love the finely rendered, graphic (yes, rendered and graphic) work of illustrator John Malloy. His charmingly quirky sensibility is the crowning element of his work.
My friend and fine artist Sara Wolfe sent me this link of Chicago based artist Diego Leclery. He created this flash animation Panda, to celebrate the recent Beijing Olympics. He initially said he would take it down after the closing ceremony, but it is still up, so watch this cool one before it’s gone!

Israeli computer scientists recently created a computer program that changes photographs of people’s faces into more attractive images based on an algorithm that determines ideal distances between lips and chins, foreheads and eyes, and distances between eyes.
