Chris Jordan’s carcass photography
Seattle-based photographer Chris Jordan’s new work features astounding images of the carcasses and stomach contents of albatross chicks from a remote strip of land in the Northern Pacific ocean, 2000 miles from the nearest continent. The chicks are fed human waste by their parents, who mistake the garbage for food. Jordan notes his subject matter is reproduced as discovered, in the interest of accurate representation.

Athens, Georgia-based visual artist David Hale began his ascent in the public eye as a student, garnering attention with his stylistic, nature-inspired paintings. Over the past few years his diligence in the studio and streets, as well as time spent doing live painting for touring musicians has traced the development of a strong spiritual-symbolic language in his work. His recent entry into the tattooing medium has also been radically successful.

Silver Summit make the sort of hazy psych-folk that would suit a long, night-time drive through the badlands. Incorporating an array of acoustic instruments, strings, slide guitar, and haunting female vocals into gossamer melodies, the collective sound like they hail from a dusty town on the Great Plains rather than their native Brooklyn.

Located on West Houston, Alphaville is my favorite gift store in Manhattan. It offers a great selection of vintage objects, from Nixon’s campaign buttons, to Sesame Street 80s mobiles, 50s greeting cards and the original Mr. Potato Head and his friends. It’s one of those places I walk into just to look but always end up buying something.
This awesome promo video for the Lost At E Minor site was created by our friends over at New York-based design studio, Lifelongfriendshipsociety. It’s all about looking into a black mirror and seeing the creative energy burst back out at you. We think it’s very cool and the first in what we hope will be a series of short videos exploring what it really means to be lost at e minor. Hit us up if you’d like to have a go at creating one.

Detailed with lovely pockets and vintage buttons, Smith’s retro inspired designs literally transform original vintage fabrics into ‘one-off’ clutches, handbags, totes and accessories. I’m in love with her clutches! But yes, if you missed her over the week end at the Blue Mountain’s Leura Village Fair, she’s stocked in Glebe and Sydney’s Todae store, as well as at a variety of online outlets.
