Leila Berney was born in Geneva, Switzerland, and currently lives in Sydney, where she has just graduated high school. She uses Canon EOS 400D and does not yet have Photoshop, but she does have creativity, great ideas and concepts to unleash, and a passion for photography.

There’s a wonderful sense of escapism about the work of Australian photographer, Eva Trust. The wavy, flowing textures of her beachside shots, in particular, convey an atmosphere of prolonged hedonism, offset by a coiled energy which seems ready to burst her subjects straight out of the frame and into our living rooms. Stephan Tillmans is a Berlin-based photographer. He writes: ‘The Luminant Point Arrays show cathode-ray-tube televisions being switched off. The television picture breaks down and creates a structure of light. The images open up a dialogue between the relationship of abstraction and concretion in photography as the breakdown of the television picture describes the breakdown of external reference. Richard Colman is one hell of an awesome human being. I go back and forth on whether or not I enjoyed him more in his drinking days or post drinking days. I guess there are pros and cons to both scenarios. He is a very talented man and a close friend. We have exchanged ideas over the years and pushed each other in the true spirit of oneupsmanship. He’s proven to be a great source of inspiration.

No wave is alive and well, if Brooklyn duo Talk Normal are any indication. Drummer Andrya Ambro keeps things cohesive with surprisingly precise percussion, occasionally banging on such things as an electric guitar and an old iron pipe rigged with contact mics, while guitarist Sarah Register coaxes some unnerving and discordant noises from her axe and array of pedals. The two take turns shouting abstract and absurdist lyrics with voices like hi-tech valkyries from a futurist nightmare.

Inspired by the unique digital clock apps created by the designer, Sean Zoega, the i-toc watch is a colorful physical manifestation of digital ideas featuring bespoke two-disc Japan quartz movement. The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
