|I love it! With the CD now being eclipsed by the MP3, I find myself feeling even more nostalgic for the simple charm of the cassette. Australian artists Andrew Smart and Jared Schmidt create ‘large scale hand-made wooden cassette tapes, routed, sanded, bogged, primed, and painted with a high quality paint finish’. Aha! The perfect way to memorialize my old mix tapes.

I’ve always marveled at Greg Harrison’s mezzotint prints. He is one of a small number of Australian artists specialising in this probably the most painstaking printmaking technique. His strange animals, mythological characters and landscapes create a fantastical world where Durer’s Rhino turned 3D and Medusa is in the city.
WhiteSpac3: arts community website
WhiteSpac3 is a recently launched arts community website. Instead of meaning a blank space, the suggestive name refers to an important element in the aesthetic composition. In design, the white or negative space is what enables objects to exist due to the contradiction with the positive (non-white) elements. It’s a very appropriate concept for a project that wants to be a free space for Australian creative minds, connecting them with galleries and art lovers.

Despite his name, I’m guessing German illustrator Frederik Jurk must be a cool guy because his images, his limited palette and gorgeous textured line work are awesome.
I was immediately taken with the work of California artist Zack Paul. Especially the images created on various bits of driftwood and found natural objects. The most perfect backdrop to his clean, geometric images.

Artist Matt W. Moore recently ran an exhibit in Cincinnati showing off his very dope vector like canvas paintings. What’s really ill to me is that the medium used here is spray paint, and you get to see him at work doing an entire wall in this style. Really clean, really fresh.
There is something almost apocalyptic about the intense black and white decimated, chaotic landscapes that French artist Didier Blondeau lovingly depicts.

Old-school, timeless French is the vibe of creative agency Mother London’s latest campaign for Stella Artois. Titled Recyclage de Luxe, these massive, 1960s vintage-esc posters lining the walls of London’s tube aim to unabashedly promote Stella’s green credentials. You know, pictures featuring Bea Arthur, mountains, and pizza are the best, but there are still a lot of duds out there. Good thing Bea Arthur Mountains Pizza has collected the best of the best Bea Arthur, mountains, and pizza pictures all in one place.
Despite their jarring name, British noise duo Fuck Buttons are surprisingly palatable. The band’s long, droning tracks are infused with sweet twinkles and sunny synth, but dark shards of ominous guitar overdrive and distorted screeches pierce the shimmering surface just when you’re ready to zone out. Danceable beats occasionally draw everything back together, creating a stormy, pulsing, and disorienting atmosphere.
MyPetsQuare loves you, and you will love them too. Two Sydney girls with a desire to design and create form the basis of this label. Vicki Lee and Angelique May-Bennett play with the idea of individualism and the longing to stand out from the crowd. Read more
