Athens, Georgia band, Pylon still sound unlike anything else out there. The B-52s and R.E.M. have both stated that Pylon are one of the best bands in America, and listening to DFA’s re-release of Chomp, with its concentrated dose of post-punk, it’s easy to hear why. This Athens, Georgia-based trio Hola Halo provides enough catchy hooks, swing, and swagger to melt the most expertly-designed of igloos. On their recording Time Out Here, vocalist and keyboardist Shauna Greeson and her bandmates re-work fuzzy, ’70s-inspired love music. But don’t think they can’t play their pop music, too.

I love the interesting lines and clever use of sustainable materials found in the Klein Bottle House, a holiday place in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. The architects, McBride Charles Ryan, based the design around the concept of the Klein Bottle, ‘a descriptive model of a surface developed by topological mathematicians’. Read more
I’ve been reading Julia Wertz’s web comic, The Fart Party, which is simply a first person account of her every day life. The artwork is pretty rudimentary, but that works to the comic’s advantage, making it rather accessible and earnest seeming. Updated every few days, it’s not hard to keep up, and you never have to wait long to get your next fix.
I love Brooklyn band Durty Nanas. They were formed in 2005 and play street spaces, galleries, lofts, and block parties. So I guess they are the ‘real’ Bloc party.
Méduse is a self-initiated project that I started while studying in London. I was printing a jellyfish inspired series of t-shirts and bags which I was selling or giving to friends. The concept has evolved a bit since then. I try to find time to launch two series’ a year, available only online.
