Mia Makila
|There are some obvious nods to Cindy Sherman in many of Mia Makila’s photos, with the Swedish artist assuming various characters and donning wigs and masks, but her fascination with grotesque and horrific imagery, as seen more consistently in her paintings, often shines through. Her objective isn’t merely to gross people out, however, as there is a giddy sense of humor cutting through all Makila’s work.
