Ze Frank’s pain_pack
Web 2.0 icon Ze Frank is currently soliciting audio recordings of people confessing their emotional pain. He will snip and edit the files into unrecognizable sounds and clips which he well then invite DJs and musicians to reassemble into full-on music. Much like the PostSecret project, Frank hopes to create something beautifully cathartic.

Ze Frank: That Makes Me Think Of on Time Magazine
Ze Frank is back, albeit in more restrained form, with his That Makes Me Think Of series of videos on the Time magazine website. As with The Show, his year-long videoblog which he updated daily between 2006 and 2007, the new series features Frank free-associating between various recent news bites, wrapping it all up in an irreverent way. In my teenage years, I was a fanatical collector of Archie Comics, living my life vicariously through the mischevious misadventures of Archie, Betty, Veronica and the gang. Eventually I sold my collection to a high school friend, who bought several garbage bags worth of digests along with my prized Ozi skate deck. This vibrant artwork by Singapore-based designer Hanyi Lee takes me back to that time and I kinda wish that I’d kept the damn things, if only for a few more moments of saccharine sweet escapism within their apple pie, primary colour world.
We spoke to Dopepope about his latest Metal Man Project: ‘In the fifth grade, I drew a comic called Metal Man about a humanoid robot that went crazy and pulled knives on people. It’s the most ridiculous thing ever. I was a kid! Anyway, I found the artwork and simply traced the head and the logo exactly as I had them and fell in love with the iconic shapes they’ve created’. UK-based one-man-band Sieben has a new album out: As They Should Sound. Frontman Matt Howden builds songs with a loop pedal and a violin, which he uses for rhythm and melody. His sound is wonderfully sophisticated and cabalistic, with a particularly British sense of lyricism.
