Château d’Estoublon’s olive oil

It was the haute couture perfume-like bottles that first sparked my interest in Château d’Estoublon’s scrumptious olive oils. So on a recent trip to Provence in the South of France where the Estoublon estate has its roots, quite literally, a quick stop for a tasting was on the agenda. Set on a massive 48 acres, replete with vineyards, olive groves, gardens, a pond, and of course, a massive château, the space is inspiring, as are its products.

Along with wines and tapenades, Château d’Estoublon produces four varieties of olive oil, all hand harvested and free of chemicals or refining processes. Flavors range from nutty to peppery, pungent to delicate, and each variety boasts a deliciously thick, silky texture that lingers on the tongue without being overbearing. Not only are the oils noteworthy in their flavor, but the packaging too demands attention. For each variety, a specific bottle was designed from an aesthetic perspective, as well as a functional one too, with the intent of keeping the oils at their peak condition and taste. When drizzled over some Provencal delights, the oils from Château d’Estoublon are gorgeous both on the plate and the table — leave it to the French.

One Last Ounce is an experimental project exploring surreal imagery on an abstract cut. Says designer Jake Jelicich on his creative rationale: ‘I wanted to make thin, unique, comfortable tees that flowed and moved with the night. And I wanted the art to be dark, but sarcastic, mystical and inspiring, all in the same glance.
