Jesse Balmer

Jesse Balmer designed the cover for Deastro’s album Keepers. Too bad Deastro sucks. Balmer’s artwork, on the other hand, is much more multifaceted, evocative, and intense, juxtaposing a pop graphical sense with some grotesque, psychedelic, and intriguing images and textures.

Cazwell’s earworm: I Seen Beyonce At Burger King

Having collaborated over the years with the likes of Amanda Lepore, Larry Tee, Boy George, and David Lachapelle, Cazwell’s fun mix of electrified dance music and old school hip hop embodies the same spirit of goofball experimentation that has been the hallmark of artists like M.I.A., Neneh Cherry, Eminem and Deee-lite. All of which is wonderfully realised on the catchy as all hell lead single — I Seen Beyonce At Burger King — from his new album, Watch My Mouth. You can download it for free, along with new music from Deastro, Mos Def and Polly Scattergood, via the Music Download section of the Lost At E Minor site [psst, it's in the third column]

I don’t really have a preoccupation with death, but for some reason I am endlessly compelled by the image of a skull. That said, most artistic renderings of skulls can be quite cliched. Illustrator Geordan Moore is the first person in a while who I’ve seen draw a skull in a way that I’ve never seen before.

The Make Your Franklin community art project welcomes us all to reflect on culture. Artists of all shapes, tastes, styles and sizes are encouraged to submit their own re-creation of the American $100 bill; a symbol of modern society. There are no rules, so be invent and rebuild the bank note. Otherwise, go chew on some of the best entries adorning the site gallery. Read more

For some reason it’s rare that you see London in this light. Nightscapes of big cities are usually reserved for New York and Tokyo, for example. Perhaps the comparatively scarce skyscrapers makes the city less photogenic in that respect. So photographer Jason Hawkes’ work is long overdue — he has really brought the city to life, and given it that lick of golden light that a long-exposure is good for.

Karol Grygoruk, acting as the Pepper Pirate, takes pictures of hipsters and strangers amidst the coolest spots in Warszawa. He catches the dark side of the city and the colorful people who sin there. Read more
