Stingray Sam trailer
by I love everything Cory McAbee creates, from the music he performed as front-man with the fabled band, The Billy Nayer Show, to his cult classic film, The American Astronaut. Stingray Sam, premiering September 15th, is a great addition to his oeuvre. Already receiving rave reviews from the critics, this musical space-western mini series is, according to Cory, ‘designed for small screens and perfect for screens of all sizes’. Having seen the film this past spring, I would have to agree. It doesn’t hurt that his daughter, the lovely Willa Vy McAbee, stole my heart with her rugged, yet angelic, first performance. Oh, don’t blink, and you might even catch a split second of yours truly gracing the silver screen.

Diana Gilon will be artist-in-residence at MIT from October 21-28 to create Through Our Eyes, a large collaborative painting/mural with students, faculty and members of the greater MIT community. In the difficult, often frightening world we live in, it’s a treat to see art concerned with whimsy, light and a genuine love for the everyday. Our friends over at Australian website Sex In Art have posted a (very tastefully done) nude by London artist Kes Richardson, who uses soft colours to give his work a pop art quality.
If animated wall drawings of severed heads and insect men ejecting their brains from their craniums is what people produce when they have too much time on their hands, then we should do their laundry for them and cook them dinner so they’ll have even more time on their hands.
I’m a wheat-free guy, and though I’ve never been into sweets, I love Sweet Sin, the only gluten-free bakery in Baltimore. Aside from their wheatless treats, they also serve a wide range of savory meals such as snapper, goat, and greens.

Baltimore Mural by Josh Van Horne
My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
Inside this sea urchin shell is an organic perfume made from grapefruit and basil essential oils. This bottle, designed by Stephanie Simek, is refillable and is packaged in a wooden box decorated with a satin photograph and padded with slices of exfoliating loofah sea sponges.
