A Moving Image Definition of Friedrich Gray
Designer Friedrich Gray and Australian photographer and director Tim Richardson will join forces to bring together a project titled A Moving Image Definition of Friedrich Gray. The project will initially consist of a two to four minute film, with plans to then extract images from the feature to form the next season’s campaign. There will be a strong musical element also with Sydney Musician Jono Ma (Lost Valentinos and Knife Machine) composing a piece especially. Plans are already in place for the project to continue on as an exhibition, whereby the film is presented in a live format and the images are presented in a hanging format.

Eco rider at Australian Fashion Week

Friedrich Gray teamed up with MOMO Design to send models down the catwalk in sleek black scooter helmets. Art, design, and fashion company Perks and Mini have just launched a new website for their publishing company, PAMBOOK, which came about five years ago when PAM founders, Misha Hollenbach and Shauna T, wanted to work with some of their favourite artists and photographers via print media. Some of the people to be involved thus far include Peter Sutherland, Sk8thing, Mark Borthwick, Ed Templeton, Fergus Purcell and Barry McGee. Each book has a unique story to it and is printed in limited numbers worldwide.
The Changes archive video release
Art collective, The Changes, have released an old video from their archives. The video, which was partly shot in Nigo’s Bapestudio some seven years ago, has resurfaced, showcasing the work of Australian label PAM, BBC/Ice Cream artist Skatething and Tonite creator, Fergadelic. PAM’s description of the ongoing collaboration is: ‘The Changes is the idea that when a few musicians come together, they form a ‘band’, which makes for a different, and sometimes stronger, dynamic for making music. We thought the same could be true of four artists coming together to do a similar thing’.

Melbournes laneways are cluttered with themed, designer bars. The challenge seems to be which is the most hip, funky and individual bar. Step in Section 8, an old inner city carpark furbished with warehouse pallets, patio heaters and a couple of freight containers, converted to serve you drinks. The vibe is fittingly low-key, with background music played at a reasonable level, frequently changing decor, and a variety of options to quench your thirst. It’s casual, fun and simple. Hailing from upstate New York, Phantogram were signed by the uber-hip Ghostly label on the recommendation of School of Seven Bells. Hardly surprising given Phantogram’s dark, beats-and-samples pop sound.
