Though Parisian illustrator Guy-Pascal Vallez (otherwise known as GAX) probably has very elaborate and fully rendered narratives in mind when he creates his images, but it’s probably best not to ask him what they are — it’s more fun to let his beautiful work inspire your own idea of what’s going on. His drawings are so realistic that, after first thinking it was photography, you then search for a ‘zoom button’ to get the most details you can. Don’t be afraid of the word retro. It has haunted us all from time to time, but one group that has embraced it with open arms is UK duo, La Roux. Their music is synth pop in the vein of Calvin Harris, Human League, The Eurythmics, and The Knife. There are quite a few of these young and ambitious pop starlets on the scene including Goldielocks. But La Roux takes the cake. Literally. I’m obsessed with their song In For the Kill and have a feeling summer will take it and make it a hit.
How neat is the ‘Duna Duna’ Jaws parody shirt by Threadless designer vomitinc? In case you were wondering, the name cleverly evokes the iconic shark movie title’s killer theme song tune.
