Cologne’s Southern Kranhaus building
This remarkable looking building is a ‘meeting and starting point for visitors wanting to explore the new Rheinauhafen harbour’ in Cologne. The construction is 70 meters long, 34 meters wide and more than 60 meters high and is the work of architect Hadi Teherani, who conceptualized the project alongside fellow architect, Alfons Linster.

Cologne-based illustrator and character designer Thomas Wellmann is capable of shifting between amusing and expressive gestural drawings and supremely labor-intensive detail work, with some pieces taking him over a year to complete. For his latest project, he is posting a new demon every day on his Flickr page and inviting people to write a backstory or narrative around each one. The ones he likes best he will publish along with his drawings as a zine.

Tattoo artist sued by ex-girlfriend for obscene design
Oh boy, this is so bizarre it could only be true. Apparently a Dayton, Ohio, tattoo artist has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for tattooing an image of, erm, excrement with flies on her back rather than the scene from Narnia that she had requested. The reason? He’d recently found out that she had been cheating on him with one of his buddies. Damn! And here we were thinking this was the hot new look for trailer park trash crowd.

Music isn’t necessarily a serious venture. It’s almost funny when you find some you know will grate to dust the stiff upper lipped critics of the world. Every now and then I like the type of sound that hops around the edge of your ears without working its way into your brain and messing up the seratonin levels. And Californian 16-piece tropical-ska-pop group, Still Flyin’, do just that for me. It’s a good laugh, quite catchy, and an awesome live experience so I’m told: especially with the sun out, a can of cider in your hand and a bunch of grinning faces skanking around you.
