Dance of the Neon Knight

This animated short by Paul Rayment, inspired by Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic score, looks like a nightmare Keith Haring might have had.

I feel like Rotterdam-based artist Daan Botlek could make some really disturbing and effective infographics. He combines the impulsive busy-ness of Keith Herring with the mind-bending surrealism of M.C.Escher. Read more

Great animation; I think you mean to say it’s like a nightmare that Keith *Haring* might have had, though…

Amazing, I love the style.

Matthew Rainwaters was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, which is the part of Los Angeles nobody likes to talk about. He did a lot of skateboarding when he was younger, broke a lot of bones, and spent hours filming his friends. Making skate videos eventually brought him to still photography. Read more

Amazing. This woman is a true master in her discipline! When I viewed her latest collection, I was stunned. The fashion world is proclaiming her as the next Alexander McQueen. See for yourself.

For a lark, I spent last night cruising Worth Street in West Palm Springs, Florida, the longest, cleanest, most deserted street I’ve ever seen, which is jammed with a string of high-class stores, flogging everything from travel jewellery (for the terrified billionaire), to sweaters and blazers in every colour imaginable. That’s right, who said The Rich had poor taste?

Where to start with Z-Trip? Shepard Fairey propped him on this site a few weeks back, but let’s face it: the guy is worth a double post. He’s the king of the mash-up, a dance floor master, and the humblest guy you’ll meet. If you haven’t heard of him (unlikely), then go to his website right now and download his free mixes. He deejayed a show for us in 2000, right when his breakout CD, Uneasy Listening, dropped and I was floored. Who has the audacity to mix a Pat Benatar beat with Public Enemy vocals? This guy.

I know at least five or six people who could make you a Gizmo skirt for like $50 or a couple cases of beer. But if you really want to pay $2,100 to buy the one by Brian Lichtenberg, I won’t stop you … I’ll just spill water on you.
