This bizarre looking building in Sanjhih is actually an abandoned resort project but is referred to by Taiwanese locals as the UFO house because of it’s somewhat extra-terrestrial design.

Flexible Love: a different kind of chair
A college student in Taiwan designed this amazing chair. It’s called Flexible Love. The chair can be turned into a sofa, a two or three seater, an s-shape. Basically, you can turn it into any seating device your imagination can come up with it seems. I have no clue how comfortable this piece of art is, but it’s surely fun to experiment with it.
First there were Crayon Rings, now we have their polar opposite: Concrete Rings. And word on the street is that concrete can actually look fashionable. 22 Design Studio in Taiwan have crafted these neat rings from only concrete and stainless steel materials.

Banksy has taken a replica of a bust of an eighteenth century member of the Catholic hierarchy and added multi-coloured tiles to the face — pixelating it — as a comment on what he considers to be the Church’s cover-up. ‘I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one’, Banksy noted. Tattoo artist sued by ex-girlfriend for obscene design
Oh boy, this is so bizarre it could only be true. Apparently a Dayton, Ohio, tattoo artist has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for tattooing an image of, erm, excrement with flies on her back rather than the scene from Narnia that she had requested. The reason? He’d recently found out that she had been cheating on him with one of his buddies. Damn! And here we were thinking this was the hot new look for trailer park trash crowd.

As a child, gold mining towns were exemplified in my mind by boring theme parks populated by out of work actors in naff colonial costumes. My parents used to drag us along in our overheated datsun because they couldn’t afford to take the kids to Disneyland. As often happens, I now appreciate the destinations whose mentions used to prompt a whole lot of whingeing about seatbelt buckle burns and compensation payouts of McDonalds. Walhalla is one such beauty. Set in the misty foothills of Australia’s Baw Baw ranges, it was once a gold era boom-town, but is now home to less than 20 residents (not counting the ghosts). Read more
