|French DJ quartet Birdy Nam Nam’s animated video Parachute Ending recalls the graphic style of Heavy Metal comics from the 70s, but without feeling overly retro. It’s probably one of the best videos I’ve seen this year.

When I got into comic books as a pubescent boy in the early ’90s, artists were rendering characters with really exaggerated bodies, and they looked as if they had been dipped into their costumes. I’m sure I’m not the sole 12-year-geek who salivated over Psylocke or Jean Grey as drawn by Jim Lee and Mark Silvestri. Mike DeBalfo, aka SquirrelShaver, specializes in the kind of sexy comic book art I’m talking about. The women he draws may not be anatomically realistic, but they’re effective fap fodder for sexually frustrated nerds. Read more
Here’s a fun little puzzle game based on Wallace and Gromit where you piece various cogs together to complete a spaceship to take the dog-man duo to the moon.
Says Van She bassist and vocalist Matt Van Schie about the Bush Tetras track — Too Many Creeps — from 1982: ‘I LOOOVE this tune. It opens with a perfect snare roll, and then the counter bass and guitar rhythms make it so cool. The lyrics are even more valid today. They’re one of my favourite bands of all time, and so many people try to do what they did for real. What a time! I wish I was born back then in New York, hanging out with these kids. Ahhhh!!’
The Lantern Restaurant is beautifully decorated and their Asian fusion cuisine blows our mind every time. It brings a little bit of a big city feel to a quaint small town. And the cocktails are amazing!
