The Nextmen’s Secret Playlist

London DJs The Nextmen have a cool new video out for their soon-to-be-released single Lion’s Den, which features the vocals of Ms. Dynamite and Andy Catois and is set to burn down dancefloors. We asked the guys to give us a rundown on the music they’re listening and they started with the Jack Penate track, Todays Tonight: ‘This is an extremely difficult one to explain. I guess it’s Afro-Folk-Pop, or something horrible like that. It’s a great track with a lovely atmosphere and a welcome return from Penate. This one was produced by the mighty Paul Epworth, who manages to give it a unique and classic sound’. Read the rest of The Nextmen’s Secret Playlist.

Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV

The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.

Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend

Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

I disagree, but the Tights are not pants manifesto is pretty funny. There’s some history and arguments on why tights shouldn’t be worn as pants, and a downloadable kit with printable flyers to spread the word. A commendable effort. Do you agree tights are not pants? I’m all for tights as pants, as long they’re, ahem, worn well.
