Monster Skin Rug

The problem with owning a Monster Skin Rug like this one is that every time you walked across it, you’d be paranoid the damn thing would rear up and bite your leg.

Gummi Bear Chandelier

Who would’ve thought chewy jello could be so practical? This Chandelier — one of only ten made — was built from around 5,000 hand-strung acrylic Gummi Bears and took two months to complete. Shame is, it’ll take just three hours to eat.

Christopher LaMarca has been photographing activists and loggers since the summer of 2003. Of his Forest Defenders series, he says: ‘My connection to this project revolves around the passion and endless work that consumes these people who live in the back-country for months at a time; and who are willing to sacrifice their comforts’ to stand up for their beliefs. Although these activists are often seen as radicals or eco-terrorists, little has been documented about their activities outside of these stereotypes. It’s simply brilliant, a real play on the ‘thuck’ accent and small town ways of our Kiwi brethren.

It’s a recession and I don’t need to buy any more handbags. But these? Umm, too awesome to pass. The ad photos are as fantastic as the products. My favorite is Pursuader. But don’t go to the airport with one! Read more

Now this is fun. The aptly named The Kooks cover the equally as aptly named MGMT for Australian radio network, Triple J. The song, Kids, is about as upbeat as any minor key progression can get. We like.
