Rye Rye featuring MIA off the NEET label
M.I.A., quick to recognize talent in her own ranks, signed the first act to her N.E.E.T. label — backup dancer and rapper Rye Rye. Ryeisha Berrain made a name for herself in her hometown of Baltimore working with DJ-producer Blaqstarr. Now, with the video for the single Bang, featuring M.I.A., making the Internet rounds, Berrain is set to release an already overdue debut album.

I wonder what hippies in the ’60s would think of Maya Hayuk, who seems to translate the incomprehensible joy of the universe into technicolor paintings and murals. I don’t think they would have been able to handle the truth. Rye Rye commissioned a wall piece from her for the video for Sunshine [watch video below]. Read more
Rye Rye’s Sunshine (featuring M.I.A)
Rye Rye is on fire and has gone all double-dutch with M.I.A. Dope lo-key beats with an old-school fly-girl attitude: this is a total summer song that’s going to heat up the coming cold winter months. Hopefully the single comes with that t-shirt M.I.A. is wearing: ‘Fuck Google, Ask Me’.
This superb video for MIA’s recent single, Born Free, was taken off YouTube in April, with the company citing use of ‘pornography and gratuitous violence’. It’s a powerful piece, with brilliant cinematography and suspense. It’s a shame that political correctness blocks people from being able to watch it.

French duo Trop Tard make straight-faced, Suicide-esque, synth-and-guitar electro tunes that sound like dark rituals performed in the catacombs beneath the streets of Paris. Repetitive, bleak, and cold, this is dance music for the shambling undead.

Fuelled by the New York city art and fashion scene, Cruz’s pieces are timeless but relevant, and beautifully detailed in their imperfections. They combine gold, silver, resin and bronze to create dark but wearable art.
