Polvo playing free New York show this Friday
Seminal Chapel Hill indie rock act Polvo are ramping up to the release of their album In Prism in early September with a free show at Manhattan’s Seaport Music Festival this Friday night. For a taste of their forthcoming album, check out this track, Beggar’s Bowl, below. Polvo also wrote a Secret Playlist for us.

We checked in with David Brylawski from seminal North Carolina group, Polvo, and asked him what songs were currently spinning on his stereo and he started with the Om track, At Giza: ‘I finally got to see them a couple of times this past summer, and I think they are my favorite band at the moment. This one is sixteen minutes of heavy groove and sometimes I have hit repeat after it ends. It is spiritual music. I believe that is the intent, and it certainly conveys this lyrically and sonically’. Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.
