by The music of Brooklyn’s Thomas Kozumplik and Lorne Watson from Loop 2.4.3 utilizes a variety of percussive instruments, from marimba and steel drum to tom-toms, bongos and snares, temple bowls and wood blocks, opera gongs and electronics. On their brilliant new album, Zodiac Dust, the band uses two new instruments, the eLog and Rose Echo, and employs cello, violin, and piano.

Brooklyn band, Amazing Baby have a new album — Rewild — the product of love and sustaining the loss of it, a car crash, and a fourteen-piece orchestra — and a damn fine Secret Playlist. Simon O’Connor gave us the inside word on the music that’s been inspiring them of late, starting with the Cocteau Twins song, Blue Bell Knoll [listen below]: ‘This song is like Enya covering My Bloody Valentine. Actually, it sounds like that weird singing alien chick known as the Diva in the Fifth Element starring Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman. Hanoch Piven at New York’s Society of Illustrators
Hanoch Piven, multiple award-winning illustrator, will lead a hands-on collage workshop for professional illustrators who want to free their inner child. Piven’s workshop will focus on the idea of playing intuitively with objects, maximizing trial-and-error and taking advantage of serendipity, which are all very useful tools to explore any creative medium. Piven is known for using ordinary objects to create striking celebrity portraits for such clients as Time, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, The New York Times and Random House. The workshop takes place on Tuesday, November 10, between 6:30 – 8:30pm, and will be produced by Fernanda Cohen.

Knuckleheads is a pretty fun little side scrolling game where you’re a pair of Mexican-wrestler-looking things attached to each other by a chain. You swing each other around to move and hit floaty capsule things for points, and you can change the length of the chain to get over various obstacles, but watch out for the bats.
