Highway Monster Artist
North Carolina State University student Joe Carnevale faces criminal charges for making a monster out of construction barrels at a development site. Though the barrel monster stood for less than a day before authorities ripped it down, it has gained instant notoriety across the Internet and probably Carnevale’s campus.

Terrifying monster art by Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor
Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor creates looming 8-foot-tall creatures wrapped in cozy, ripped-up fabrics. These monsters are large and in-charge, and weirdly endearing. But also terrifying if you imagine them coming to life in a dark alley. The artist has a new body of work with an apt titled borrowed from that macabre folk song that begins with, “Oh my darling,” and ends with, “Dreadful Sorry Clementine”.

The moment I saw Dolton Ghetti’s amazing sculptures, the first thing that came to my mind was ‘Why?!’ But it takes such an obvious level of skill and out of this world patience (not to mention, a steady hand) to create these mini gems, that I was instantly awestruck. His inimitable work is now showcased at Lori Warner Studio. It’s probably easier to create art through a pencil than on the actual tip of one. Read more
It’s hard to explain someone else’s work without compromising other viewers’ perception. so I’ll use three words that I think would be more than obvious to describe the work of Mexican artistGustavo Abascal: dark, pale and beautiful.
Having originally sprung from the Shaky Isles (otherwise known as New Zealand), I can appreciate the humour in the New Zealand cartoon series, Bro Town, the first homegrown animated series to screen during local prime time. It’s simply brilliant, a real play on the ‘thuck’ accent and small town ways of our Kiwi brethren.

An anonymous public school teacher known as Mrs. Q, following Morgan Spurlock’s lead, decided to eat every school lunch served to her for the duration of 2010. At the risk of her job, she documents her experience on her blog, which features photographs of the atrocious, shrink-wrapped, processed poison that she and her students are forced to choke down every school day.
Hailing from upstate New York, Phantogram were signed by the uber-hip Ghostly label on the recommendation of School of Seven Bells. Hardly surprising given Phantogram’s dark, beats-and-samples pop sound.
