Artfarm, where all tattooed pigs live
I wonder if these piggies understand what is going on? They’re a part of Artfarm, a collective of swine and tattoo ink. The Belgian artist Wim Delvoye worked with The Foundation Cartier on this recent project. Hmmm, it seems more like Artharm. Or should that be Artham?

Wim Delvoye’s Cloaca auctioned through Sotheby’s
Belgian artist Wim Delvoye (who famously tattooed a bunch of pigs) created a shit-making machine called the Cloaca Machine that pumps out rather hefty logs of brown stuff. A couple of days ago, Sotheby’s put a piece of Delvoye’s shit on auction for 2,000-3,000 GBP.

Looks cool, but what a cruel thing to do to an animal – putting them through such pain. They wouldn’t understand what was going on. It’s disgusting and seems a little hypocritical coming from a vegetarian.

Horrible horrible. I don’t care if it IS art. Do you know that pig’s skin is ultra-sensitive? Do you know how many HOURS it takes to tattoo this kind of art? Nice art. Cruelty to animals!

We’re discussing this issue in our classroom right now and find it; interesting, confused, creative, kinda cruel, cool, not sure, strange, stupid, disturbing and interesting designs but not sure about using live pigs.

When looking at the beautiful paintings of Mamma Anderson, I almost get the impression that the art world is being forced to look back upon itself. The body of her work seems to present itself like a textured snapshot of galleries, coffeshops and well-designed interiors. We love sex in art. No, not in a smutty Benny Hill kinda way, but rather the way in which Australian-based website Sex In Art takes a healthy peek at all things arty and well … sexual. There’s some beautiful illustration work up there and some evocative photography. Heck, I’m getting a little hot under the collar just writing about it. While most of the work they feature is work friendly, some of it isn’t. Still, it’s worth more than a casual glance, like this painting by Chinese artist, Guan Zeju.
My roommate Adam and I have been playing Mark McGuire’s album, Pocket Full of Rain, all summer and some other tapes our other roommate has showed us that he did. I really like everything this guy has done. I sit and watch him play guitar on YouTube when I’m bored.
