Ben Tolman
|Ben Tolman almost make me want to give up drawing. Despite a Mormon upbringing, the DC-based artist makes incredibly intricate pen-and-ink pieces that feature a lot of skulls, monsters, and Bosch-like horror. Drawing freehand, sometimes without preliminary sketches, Tolman puts my draftsmanship skills to shame.

My roommate is on a big Star Trek kick, re-watching the entire original series. I forgot how amazing and progressive and ahead-of-its-time it was. California-based artist Cheeming Boey makes super-wowza drawings on styrofoam coffee cups. He also keeps a web comic documenting his daily life that is at times hilarious at others rather touching. He reminds me of my friend Jon from high school. Read more

Their entire collection is made from 100 percent recast metal in the USA. When leather is used, Alkemie obtains the leather from cattle ranches that uses all of the animal, and are dyed with eco-friendly dyes. The current collection for Alkemie is named The Maiden Voyage, inspired by the Art Noveau Movement.
