Of all the local, street vendors (not to mention other taquería's like El Califa), I never understood how chilangos would rave about the salsa verde or the tortillas alone. I loved it all together, as a package. So simple taquería's didn't do it for me. But to be fair, in the years I lived in DF I wasn't only amongst foreigners at El Tizoncito but lots of locals too-- then again, it was La Condesa ;) Still, your comment speaks to the great taco debate in DF. If you want to try real good tacos al pastor, you have to go to the streets... i would tell some (many) names, but they're not paying so... El tizoncito is just too comercial (it's mostly filled up with turists, actually) and expensive compared with other much better and tastier tacos, and honestly, it's not very good. If you like el tizoncito, you'll love real, honest, traditional tacos. "El que busca, encuentra" If you ever return to this crazy amazing city, you'll be all wellcomed, just search for the truth ;) don't stick to el tizoncito.
