TimeBomb at Sydney’s MCA
by A collaboration between digital artist Lukasz Karluk, Sydney painter Maddi Boyd, and StupidKrap — the collective of Ben Frost, Numskull and KidZoom — TimeBomb is an interactive graffiti painting in which visitors use a camera to go back in time to see the beginning of the artwork. By merging interactive programming and traditional wild-style bombing, TimeBomb allows the audience to unlock the secret history behind a graffiti wall: ‘Over four days nine urban artists contributed to the TimeBomb piece, painting layers upon layers of different styles. Their work was documented through time-lapse photography, creating an animated film of the whole process’. TimeBomb can be experienced at the opening of Creative Sydney at the MCA, May 27, at 8pm.

We love sex in art. No, not in a smutty Benny Hill kinda way, but rather the way in which Australian-based website Sex In Art takes a healthy peek at all things arty and well … sexual. There’s some beautiful illustration work up there and some evocative photography. Heck, I’m getting a little hot under the collar just writing about it. While most of the work they feature is work friendly, some of it isn’t. Still, it’s worth more than a casual glance, like this painting by Chinese artist, Guan Zeju.
Australian group Pivot have recently signed with the mighty Warp label and — even better (well, for us anyway) — have written a fun Secret Playlist for us. You can see where the many disparate influences have seeped into their latest recording, the beautiful and colourful, O Soundtrack My Heart.
My roommate Adam and I have been playing Mark McGuire’s album, Pocket Full of Rain, all summer and some other tapes our other roommate has showed us that he did. I really like everything this guy has done. I sit and watch him play guitar on YouTube when I’m bored.
