Augie March’s Secret Playlist
We got the inside word from Augie March’s Dave Williams on the eight songs that are inspiring him, and the band, at the moment, for our sister site, My Secret Playlist. He started off by propping the Animal Collective song, In The Flowers: ‘I love how these dudes mash up folksy harmonic progressions and melodies performed on traditional rock instruments with everything-bar-the-kitchen sink cut and paste rhythm tracks, incidental and found sounds, field recordings, and more. By no means are they the first to do this but, damn, they do it well. And with tonnes of heart’. Australian electro four-piece Miami Horror’s have just released their debut album, Illumination, a perfect union of horns, acoustic and electric guitars, synths and looping bass lines — all of which creates a seventies French sound. Aussie disco? Ah-mazing!

Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

Castevet are a promising new experimental black metal band out of New York. They have a much more complex and technical approach than other bands of this ilk, revealing post-hardcore and death metal influences as evidenced by guitarist Andrew Hock’s work in deathgrind outfit Biolich and Boston jazz/death/doom band Ehnahre.
The Virtual Shoe Museum was initiated by Liza Snook in 2004. Once the idea was born, a long search began for designers, photographers and publishers connected to shoes. New friendships developed and their mailbox filled with loads of material on fantastic shoes, art and design on shoes. The Shoe featured above is the Electric Light Shoe by Strawberry Frog.
