Andrea Everman is a Chicago-based artist and designer who creates scary and mysterious fantasy puppets. In her day job she is an architectural model maker, using her spare time to generate these wonderful shadow puppet doodles.

Chicago based artists Adam Brooks and Mat Wilson who make up Industry of the Ordinary are ‘dedicated to an exploration and celebration of the customary, the everyday, and the usual’. Though they may love the status quo, their exploration of it has a delightful tendency to manifest in one of a kind moments and visuals that make the viewer understand that art is an experience. Whether they are swapping facial hair, playing foosball as God, or running for public office in Italy, their projects are always worth checking out.
Chicago-based artist Krista Wortendyke re-assembles pieces of images from video games, war photographs, and movies to create new battle scenes that omit narrative-suggesting elements – thereby leaving no moral context for the viewer — as well as suggesting extreme mediation, with the overlaying squares and rectangles suggesting the pixelation of digital technology.

Midnight Juggernauts are another awesome Australian band. There’s something amazing going on in the land of Oz, with Empire of the Sun, Pnau, and these guys. I really wish they were coming to London to brighten up my dark, mysterious winters. Come on boys, you know you wanna!

I’ll let you in on a secret. If you’re heading East towards Brick Lane and are hungry, forget about all those cheap and non flavorsome restaurants, which surround the area door to door, encouraging you to come in for a cheap bite. Go around the corner, instead, off Bethnal Green Rd and you’ll find a Turkish favorite, Tas Firin. It’s such a nice surprise: even the décor has a charm, with shoes on the makeshift roof, which in turn is the drinks station. The hummus and halloumi are a must. My favorites are the Adana and Iskender dishes, but don’t order them together as the portions are huge.

Back in the ’90s, just as the gangsta rap phenomenon was winding down and hip-hop was fragmenting into its own subgenres, Prince Paul and RZA kicked off the short-lived horrorcore fad with their group Gravediggaz. At the time, the melding of dark, gothic themes with hardboiled rap seemed gimmicky and awkward, a strange extension of the early and awful attempts to bridge hip-hop and metal, but on closer listen, the now defunct supergroup was way more innovative than they were given credit for.
