Fleet Ice Cream Orchestra
by As the sun has come out to play in London, we’re able to enjoy the pleasantries of the outdoors again. So I’m looking forward to seeing the Fleet Ice Cream Orchestra perform this Sunday outside the Street Headquarters to end this year’s Street Project. Six vans will play a piece by Chris Yates and Kelvin Pawsey on their ice cream van horns. They’ll also be serving ice-cream before and after the performance at The Shop. Yeah, it’s true, we all scream for ice cream.

Midnight Juggernauts are another awesome Australian band. There’s something amazing going on in the land of Oz, with Empire of the Sun, Pnau, and these guys. I really wish they were coming to London to brighten up my dark, mysterious winters. Come on boys, you know you wanna!

I’ll let you in on a secret. If you’re heading East towards Brick Lane and are hungry, forget about all those cheap and non flavorsome restaurants, which surround the area door to door, encouraging you to come in for a cheap bite. Go around the corner, instead, off Bethnal Green Rd and you’ll find a Turkish favorite, Tas Firin. It’s such a nice surprise: even the décor has a charm, with shoes on the makeshift roof, which in turn is the drinks station. The hummus and halloumi are a must. My favorites are the Adana and Iskender dishes, but don’t order them together as the portions are huge.

I think this is Zachary Cale’s third album, but this one and its creator are new to me. Folk-rock with some meat and licks and swagger. Probably the best songwriter record I’ve heard in a year or so.

Jamie O’Shea take a bow, then a nap, then a bow again. This is brilliant, a contraption that allows you to catch some zzzs whilst maintaining your place in the coffee line. After weeks of packing Australia’s crate with the best of Aussie nightlife, our crate was farewelled in lavish style at the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange send-off party in Sydney last week. We discovered Australia is swapping with Brazil, so we’re hanging out for the samba and cachaça to sway ashore and lead us astray. Lost At E Minor contributor Michelle Wilding captured the vibe of the night and Aussie nightlife with this video.

I’ve yet to find out what they put in the water in Germany that generates such a consistently rich stream of good electronica. Carrying the torch at the moment is Hendrik Weber, aka Pantha du Prince, whose early 2007 release, This Bliss, landed on my doormat with a deep bass-kick and hasn’t left my iPod since. Read more

Inspired by the unique digital clock apps created by the designer, Sean Zoega, the i-toc watch is a colorful physical manifestation of digital ideas featuring bespoke two-disc Japan quartz movement. The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
