Body and movement have always been an interesting subject matter to me. Body language can speak such an intimate, potent language. Using gestures of form, a person can share what lies underneath their exterior and in one small movement you have the power to make someone feel at ease or a tiny twitch can be cause for an offensive type of energy, shooing a person away. I feel deeply for the body language in Natasha Law’s ladies.
I see their insecure self doubts, as well as their divine Goddess-like hopes. They speak a narrative of who we are as females and what we strive for beyond the every day expectations of life. In all her pictures, I sense these ‘no-faced’ ladies all want something, which makes the title of her recent show at Eleven Gallery all too perfect. No love lost. Vulnerability and strength all in one go.

Hmmm, well it seems adults get the short end of the stick, playing only a game of ’serious’ and ‘responsibility’. So when I came across this video, it was interesting to see life’s playground had merged into the adult world. Yipeeee! Adults need to have some fun, too.

is it TooLate? Is it? Never! This Italian-made watch has a beautiful minimal design, comes in lots of colors, is water proof and goes for less than $30. Hot damn! 10,000 of them were sold in the first ten days after their release and half a million in it’s first year of distribution. Apparently the Italians are wearing two or three of them together as part of some bizarre fashion clique. Wonder if the rest of the world will catch on?

Melbournes laneways are cluttered with themed, designer bars. The challenge seems to be which is the most hip, funky and individual bar. Step in Section 8, an old inner city carpark furbished with warehouse pallets, patio heaters and a couple of freight containers, converted to serve you drinks. The vibe is fittingly low-key, with background music played at a reasonable level, frequently changing decor, and a variety of options to quench your thirst. It’s casual, fun and simple. Concept albums have always been a hit or miss affair, all too often to be taken with a pinch of salt. Some work brilliantly; many fall flat on their esoteric face. Dr John’s response to Hurricane Katrina is an intriguing album. Some is rousing, some depressing: it’s littered with political statements, perhaps too much at times but given it’s purpose the over-saturation isn’t surprising. Read more

These rings are handmade in Italy by Ashanti Raffaele Cinzio and come in a set of three, shaped flat and polished in a brushed finish. One sterling silver, one yellow bronze and one rose bronze.
