Jacques Labouchere’s song: Second Long Street

Singer-songwriter Jacques Labouchere was diagnosed as a sufferer of bi-polar disorder — hence the title of his recently released album, Bi-Polar Baby Strollers. Of the recording, he says: ‘My songs are about love, loss, loneliness, togetherness, family, and the bi-polar disorder, which I have suffered or prospered from since the age of 20′.

Justin Bieber’s U Smile at 800 percent slower

Random piece of pop trivia: if you slow Justin Bieber’s horrendous tweeny anthem U Smile down to an eight-hundredth of its original speed, it sounds eerily like an outtake from an Orb recording session. Ambient music has never been so … err … hip. Don’t believe us? Have a listen here.

The rough and frantic style of French graphic novelist Antoine Dode gives his panels an expressive and interestingly textured feel. Can’t wait to read hard copies of his work.

We love the vivid colours in the Freak La Notte range of t-shirts. The French label’s collection of shirts are like little canvases of super-styled surrealism – bold, elegant, and enchanting.

Last week when the 2008 ARIA nominations were released, I was so happy to see the recognition of Melbourne‘s Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Their album Primary Colours is pure, unadulterated Aussie rock, standing out from the numerous electro releases we’ve had this year. The band manages to capture that wonderful pub-vibe without any pretension or tragic nostalgia. Primary Colours speaks to people who still seek an existence that is all about wearing ripped jeans, loitering and punching people in the face … not in a violent way, but because your fist flailed in that direction while you were thrashing around front of stage.
