HP’s TouchSmart TX2 notebook
We’ve been playing around recently in the Lost At E Minor office (in the nicest possible way!) with HP’s new TouchSmart TX2 notebook. It pushes the technology out there a bit, featuring a touchscreen monitor on a swivelling hinge and a nifty magnetic stylus. Swivel the monitor around, close it over the keyboard, and you’ve got a drawing tablet for those digital masterpieces. Use two fingers on the screen and you can do neat tricks like resizing and rotating images. Or go back to your roots and simply use the keyboard. Now, that’s what we call fun.

Interview with Catherine Federici, ISSON Eyewear
We checked in with Catherine Federici, one of the creative forces behind Australian sunglasses company, ISSON Eyewear, and asked her what lead to her take her industrial design training and apply it to sunglasses design: ‘I worked in Optometry practices since I was fourteen. Aēsop’s Parsley seed facial cleansing oil
Aēsop specialise in plant based skin, hair and body products. Founded in Melbourne in 1987, they’ve now established signature stores in Paris, London, Hong Kong, Zurich, Signapore and Taipei, as well as other locations around Australia. Parsley seeds are high in anti-oxidants, so this range makes a good alternative to the harsher facial cleansers around. The Parsley seed facial cleansing oil is ideal for normal, combination or dry skin in the summer months as it effectively removes grime and make-up without aggravating the skin.

Sydney is not as well known for its great bars as other Australian cities. The city centre is dominated by over-priced style bars, while the suburbs are ruled by beer barns overflowing with terrible music, pokies, and sports. Nestled in the back streets of Surry Hills, surprisingly close to the city, The Cricketer’s Arms bucks the trend, with an open fire-place, great contemporary music selection, comfortable couches, a cosy outdoor area, decent food, free board games, and the laidback vibe that’s now all too rare in Sydney. We asked Ham and Pete, from New York band The Walkmen, to give us the rundown on the music that is inspiring them right now and they started off with a track from that elder statesmen of indie folk, Bonnie Prince Billy, Goin’ to Acapulco: ‘He did a remarkable job of putting a unique spin on a classic. Finland’s Holy Blood is a great folk-black metal band by any standard, but its horn-raising tunes are all for the glory of the Good Lord rather than Satan or Odin. What would Jesus do? Now this is fun. This 3D watch dial actually jumps to life. The dial is a modern version of the 19th century art form of lithophanes: carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images. When the pusher is activated, the dial springs to life in 3D, with an LED light and afterglow effect. Read more
