My Secret Playlist by Dengue Fever
We asked Senon Williams, bassist with Los Angeles-based indie rock band Dengue Fever, to tell us his Secret Playlist, the lowdown on the music he’s listening to at the moment, and the first track he propped was Radar Bros’ When Cold Air Goes To Sleep: ‘Jim Putnam writes the most timeless and beautiful songs on earth. The video for this song, for some reason, haunts me. I can’t figure it out. The music is majestic, and then there is the band Kiss-rocking air guitar with a man dressed as a boy cowboy? Excuse me, I have to go to my laptop and watch it again’.

‘He ran around with Lou Reed and the Andy Warhol scene cutting everyone’s hair until he ended up cutting a record called Wild Angel. Great songs that reflect the decadence of the time’.
Willoughby / Wonder
‘I like the pace of this band’s music. Feeling good? Feeling bad? This is good music for every mood. Or is it just good? I like Willoughby, also, because the record is great from start to finish. There is no, “oh damn, I got to skip this track” happening’.
The Kinks / Have A Cuppa Tea
‘This song reminds me of a good friend trying to describe to me “the perfect cup of tea”, and she basically can’t find a bad time to have one. She’d drink black tea at 3am and be asleep by 3:05. I’d still be listening to the record at 3:45′.
Charlie Wadhams / Free Up Your Schedule
‘This is very romantic. Charlie must be a romantic. I feel romantic when I listen to him. I think we can all learn a thing or two here. If you want love, make the time. I’d hope this is what Charlie does, or he could be a lost soul fighting to figure it out’.
Secret Circuit / Roll
‘In this song, I really dig the Afro Beat influence. The way Secret Circuit mixes analog with electronic is so musical at its core. Going to see Secret Circuit is like having a visit to outer space. Seeing all the gear they brought, I worried if there was enough power on the block to make it all work?’

Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

If I could read Italian and I were living northern Italy, I’d hang out a bunch in this beautiful and futuristic library designed by Aquili Alberg Architects.
Bringing statistics to life is not particularly easy, but this website does so with a creative brilliance. Using interactive animation and videos, you can look at a wide ranging set of sustainable global development data as the numbers change across space and and time. It promotes a statistically-founded world view, and somehow makes that fun.
Originally hailing from Kendal, Cumbria and now based in Leeds, the Wild Beasts foursome are the next hopefuls for Domino Records, who sent the group out to Sweden to record their first album, Limbo, Panto, released on June the 16th. The new single — The Devil’s Crayon — shimmers in wide-screen around a sense of location, melody and wonder at the scale of things. Indeed, it sounds like the theme song to a new kind of very English road movie.

Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.
